Would-be skyscraper structure

I was in Zürich last week and I ran across this interesting structure:

Skyscraper to be expected

It seems that when a skyscraper is built in Switzerland, the population should first be aware of the expected heights. What is interesting is how they create this impression using this metal structure: a sort-of building gauge.

Why do I blog this? because I found curious to have this sort of “simulated space”.

I saw something similar in our small town.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/steveportigal/275024673/ is the aftermath of such a process. A new home going on a empty lot; they built a frame of a frame, if you will, 2×4 lumber set up to show the shape of the house. All during the permit application period. When I returned with a camera a few days later to take the picture of the frame (for much the reason that you did, above), I found only the demolished frame.
