		<description>For the first issue, I believe that a Brightkite like solution might work : only update current location when the user presses the &quot;update current location&quot; button. The nature of that &quot;button&quot; might be any software, or even a physical button. On top of solving the battery problem it has the side effect of putting the user firmly in control. And most current social software success stories show that having the user feel in control is a key success factor.</description>
