Some interesting Savannah facts for ya.
1. The squares and almost symmetrical nature of the city plan was thought to be a defensive military thing. People would get lost. :)

2. The fish on drain pipes is a remnant from african cultures (big Haitian influence during the Revolutionary War) who believed that spirits could travel through water into your house. The fish keep spirits out of the drain pipes.

I love these bits, eh?

Thanx for the great write up!

Ok, commenting in good company... :-)

I love the idea of, let's say, categoryzing features into soul, heart and body. It reminds me of the classification of demos, prototypes, pre-products and the such.

In a demo for example, you have to identify..
* what you're showing, the part on which you cannot cheat, otherwise the demo doesn't show anything; (soul?)
* the part that surrounds it, where you may cheat, aka create false back-ends or data, but where it's nice and more proof-of-concept to manipulate real stuff; (heart?)
* and the part about which you don't care, where you should cheat, because otherwise you're simply wasting your effort on something that is not the demo. (body? or even neighbourhood?)

Of course this comment simplifies issues, but I see a link here, and I like the metaphore. I'll try it at work. :-)

Thank's Nicolas. really interesting post
<i>My third comment on the conference was the surprising lack of examples/products/services You're right. there is a kind of new design. Onlytalkdesign, onlypaperdesign or mydreamistobeascientistdesignerandwritepaper.... ;=)))
Design doing vs design try to thinking ?
Design could be also action research or practice and research.

Design is it paper or masterpiece ?
