Faraday's Cage: A Bar & Grill
No Algorithms. Just Juicy Steaks, Tender Chops,
And Plenty of Booze.
This came up in a General Seminar session on ‘digital twins’. The idea behind this one is that in this world build, there are some who think that having a digital twin of yourself is a bit like having a digital twin of a steak. It may look great, but it doesn't taste. At all. It's not the same as the real thing. And, in this case, the real thing is a juicy steak or a tender chop, grilled to perfection and served with a side of fries and a cold beer. The idea is that people are looking for a place where they can connect with others without the interference of technology. A place where they can enjoy a meal and have a conversation without the distractions of their digital twins or the latest in-ear ‘Fairchild Facsimile’ in-ear-pod assessing and analyzing what their would-be date is saying.
The world build is to imply that there is this vibe current that is a reactionary one against the over-analyzed AI-ified world, of which the digital twin is a part. Like when a generation who grew up digital now is into wet photography or cassette tapes. In this case, the over-index on devices or contrivances or services that analyze perhaps conversations you're having in real time? And tell you what to say or how to react?
Some are just over all of that and want to go to a place where they can just be themselves — or ease back into their own consciousness after a long day of being analyzed and assessed by AI, or not using their own intellect, or perhaps being instructed at such a high level as to what they should do that they do not know how to ponder, feel confused, wonder, imagine otherwise, or even just be.
