On Chain Betting
There is a kind of network of simulated sports that flourishes. Playing hard contact sports is no longer tenable for a variety of reasons, one of which is the physical damage that occurs to the body in heavy contact sports, a shift from gladitorial dynamics, perhaps, but maybe not? Maybe the interest in simulation and the compelling nature of such the way E-Sports has flourished? The idea is that PCs – playing characters — are fully simulated. You can 'own' a portion of a character materially and obtain value from their accomplishments or lose value proportional to their poor performance. PCs can be assembled into teams for team sports, but there are also solo sports, like tennis and pickleball has really taken off surpassing tennis. You can try and create a PC but that takes time as their development is not instantaneous and you have to find opportunities for them to compete in order to skill/level-up. There are global heroes who are still singular. Although PCs are in some sense 'owned' — need a better word — they are independent in their actions. They are AIs and make their own decisions strategically and tactically. At some point in their model development they cross a threshold and are now 'independents' and independent of what the ownership structure is like, like Botto: cf: https://botto.com/. This could be a few articulations: a flashy hero ad for one of the PCs; a dodgy services ad claiming to expedite your PC's 'evolution'; enhancement services; training academy; a PSA warning about gambling addiction; an AI node for addicts to discuss their problems and seek help; etc.
