A presentation I gave to the Google UX Design Council & Community. User experience (UX) design is all about crafting interactions that feel intuitive, satisfying, and seamless today. But how do we anticipate and design for the UX of near future, when behaviors, norms, devices, experiences therein have evolved? How can we imagine into the possible futures so that considered UX Design can continue to provide meaning and value? This is where Design Fiction becomes a powerful tool. It allows UX designers to imagine and prototype future experiences by creating artifacts that come from hypothetical futures. Through these artifacts, UX designers can explore how emerging technologies, new behaviors, and shifting cultural norms might reshape the way users interact with products and systems.
